Information Regarding Residential Lawn Irrigation Using Water From Lake Conroe

The right to engage in construction, placement, operations and maintenance of Residential Lawn Irrigation Equipment on the Lake Conroe Reservoir or SJRA Land is not an inherent right that comes with the control or ownership of waterfront property.  No person shall construct, operate or maintain a lawn irrigation pump on Lake Conroe at any time without a proper permit or license.  An annual fee will be assessed by SJRA for each property.  The permit or license can be revoked at any time and for any reason deemed necessary.  SJRA is under no obligation to maintain a specific level of the Reservoir in order to facilitate the construction or use of Residential Irrigation equipment.

Licensing my Residential Lawn Irrigation Equipment on Lake Conroe

In order to license your residential lawn irrigation equipment on Lake Conroe, you will need to submit the following documentation:

  1. To apply for a lawn irrigation license, please visit our Customer Portal.

Upon submittal of the above documentation, the Operations Manager will review and determine whether a permit for the lawn irrigation equipment can be issued.  If approved, you will be required to enter into a Lawn Irrigation Contract and pay the prescribed fee for the irrigation permit.

*The contract is potentially renewable each year with payment of the annual fee.

Closing my Residential Irrigation Account

In order to close a residential irrigation account, SJRA requires the following:

  1. The irrigation pipe must be permanently disconnected from the irrigation system.  This will include:
    • Removal of the intake and/or suction lines.
  2. Homeowner must contact SJRA after the pipe has been removed.  Upon contact, the following will be done:
    • A verification will be issued to the Operations Field Team to confirm that the pipe has been permanently disconnected.
    • The verification will be returned and the account will be reconciled and closed.
    • You will be notified when the account has been closed.
